The Blessings of Christmas

Those of us who celebrate Christmas are probably busy with tons of holiday preparations. Decorating the house, baking Christmas cookies and candies, shopping for presents, holiday concerts and everything else that makes your Christmas season festive. In the midst of all of this, it is easy for us as couples to get focused on the "things of Christmas" rather than the blessings of Christmas. I know this is a difficulty for me. This year I want to encourage you and inevitably me as well, to set aside time in this busy season to consider the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus Christ, God Himself, coming to earth as a baby for the sole purpose of dying on the cross and rising again to save us from sin. This is the most amazing gift of all!

But, let's not stop there. At Dwelling Place Ministries, we teach that your spouse is a gift from our Lord. What a wonderful time to slow down, as much as possible, and spend some time with your wife or husband. Focus on the Family has a great article that gives some ways to spend time with each other during this very busy season. Check it out here: https://www.focusonthefamily.com/marriage/strengthening-your-marriage/meaningful-christmas-traditions-for-couples

As someone whose love language is quality time, spending time together is precious to me. Revisit or learn your spouses love language and speak it to them this Christmas season and into the new year. Plan time to invest in your marriage during this busy season. You will be amazed at how a little attention can show you know they are a gift from God and a blessing to you.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Dwelling Place Ministries!
